At the beginning of October we still had beautiful, sunny weather which was great to finish up the soccer season. We didn't have a single rainy soccer game! Brooke was the only one in the family who wanted to play this year and she was on the same team as her good friend, Paige. Brooke did a great job being aggressive and going after the ball! Yay Brooke!

After months of planning already, we told the kids we are planning our first trip to Disney World as a Christmas present. Ellen wanted the announcement to be a big event, so she had us over for dinner, decorated the room with balloons, got little gifts for each person to open that were clues, and a cake made that said, "We are going to..." The kids finally figured it out and are excited! We'll go in January. Ellen and her sister, Carolyn, and Carolyn's granddaughter are also going with us.
The kids had a 4-day weekend due to parent/teacher conferences and so we went camping at the KOA near Fort Stevens and Astoria. We invited the McKibbens and Kelleys along because they like to camp in the rain too! We lucked out with the weather and it rained mostly at night. We chose the KOA because of the indoor pool just in case the weather was miserable.

| Nicholas and Blake think it's warm enough to go in the water! Nicholas came running out shouting how cold it was and said, "Now I know how the pioneers felt! I'm so cold!" I had to laugh and tried to explain he didn't even come close to how the pioneers felt! |

| We then explored the batteries at Fort Stevens. This is the only place on the continental USA that was fired upon by the enemy in WW2. Fort Stevens is a strategic spot because it is at the mouth of the Columbia River that empties into the Pacific Ocean. |
