July 2016

Zach's 13th birthday with Josh Sorensen, Ryan Klingler, and Beau Podwys at Pizza Hut
He had to wait until July 1 because of his friends' busy schedules.

Then some Lazer Tag!

Nicholas is now taller than me!! The looks on our faces say it all - Him: YES! Me: What just happened?
I am grabbing both sides of his jeans to make sure he doesn't stand on his tiptoes to make it look worse than it is.

Sara and Tom's wedding anniversary is July 3, so they like to drop Hazel off at Gramma's while they go out of town.
Brooke and Gabe spent the night too so they could have cousin time.

Annual Independence Day 5K! Ellen gets a different colored shirt because she is a cancer survivor.
Of course, we didn't know she wouldn't be with us for the next one.

Porter and David lining up for the "Kids Dash" with the Hillsboro Hops dude.

Ellen joining the Cancer Survivors group picture.

Gramma and Nicholas finishing together.
Immediately after the 5K is the parade.
I love the horses that come through the parade.

And the gymnastic girls are fun to watch.

Zach giving me some sass.

Always more fun with friends:
Kai, Brooke, Mason, David, Beau, Dante, Sarya, Kylah, Gabe, Nicholas, and Porter

Gabe trying out a Roman Candle at the Nissinens for fireworks.

Kids love to hold explosives!

Gabe's first time at the dentist! Tender Care Dental is great.

10 days before David's 8th birthday, we finally got him to ride a 2-wheeler!! He took off and did great!

Brooke (10) helping a magician at the library

I took David to a Hillsboro Hops game and had great seats (thanks to tickets from a friend).

This chicken stole the show!  He did silly things any spare minute.

Meanwhile, Nicholas is off to Pioneer Trek!
With Joe Nissinen

With Beau Podwys and Joe Michael.

I was grateful someone else took lots of pictures.
Joe, Trent, Nicholas, Beau, McKibbens

Nicholas' "Ma and Pa." Heidi and Ryan Janeway.  They both told me how much they appreciated Nicholas and the other boys working so hard and helping any way they could.

Fording a river.

The boys had to quietly walk behind the "Girls Pull" when they weren't allowed to help push their wagon.
It's a representation of when some women had to cross the plains by themselves since they didn't have any men helping them or their men had died along the way.
Nicholas with his "family" coming into the last stretch to Zion's Camp on the last day.
Parents are lining the sides of the path to greet the Trekers.

Here they come! Mike was able to join them the last night and walked into camp with them.

Nicholas' company

The very tired kids I drove home. Nicholas, Beau, and Ryan in the back seat.

Ice cream pie for his 15th birthday.

And off to Olive Garden

The next day he got his Driver's Permit!

We have a driver in the house! First stop: mostly empty movie theater parking lot to give driving a try.

Ellie Harward and I messing around with Snapchat during our YW presidency meeting.
No wonder they take longer than 2 hours!
Mike is working 75+ hours a week, Zach is at Scout Camp
and the kids and I go bowling, OMSI, parks, swimming, and hiking.
A short hike with a pretty waterfall.

"Find Nicholas"

Back at the Cluff's pool: David jumping in.

Gabe got really brave.

Finally taking David out for his birthday dinner.
Chocolate pancakes at IHOP!
